Waitt as a young girl
Description
Maude Waitt, who served as one of Ohio's first two women elected to the Ohio Senate in 1922, was an avid suffragist and was active on the Lakewood City Council. She was known for her Citizenship Classes, which were later replicated across the country. One class, in fact, was led by attorney Florence Allen, who went on to become the first woman to sit on the Ohio Supreme Court.
